Dr. Choi is currently Chair Of Neurology and Director Of Neurosciences Institute, Stony Brook University.
He is a Physician-Scientist and is holder of 7 patents for innovative neurological research.  He has served as advisor to NIH, FDA, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences.

Previously he was executive vice president at the Simons Foundation in New York City, on leave of absence from Emory University. He was formerly vice president of academic health affairs at Emory University, executive vice president of neuroscience at Merck Research Labs and professor and head of neurology at Washington University Medical School. He remains a visiting distinguished professor in bio and brain engineering at KAIST in Korea.
